Follow the Star is an original choral work that brings a fresh energy to the timeless story of Christmas. This unique and evocative setting for mixed voice choir draws together rich harmonic dissonance, flowing vocal lines, and imaginative word play to create a captivating piece that choirs will relish performing.
Written for SATB (with divisi), the piece is set across three key sections. The first, hushed and atmospheric, sets the scene for the arrival of the Baby Jesus, capturing the emotions, reflections and atmosphere of being in the presence of a newborn.
The mood then shifts to creating a sense of expectation with momentum building through textural and rhythmic variation as the melody is passed around different voices, before building to a joy-filled, euphoric finale that encapsulates the excitement, wonder and hope of Christmas.
